About Me

The Full Story

In my paintings, I use a mixture of spices, sand, sea salt and acrylic paint. These elemental and organic elements represent the soul in all its mystery and complexity. The paint is the reality around us. It is the material world. These raw materials deepen my paintings. They allow the spirit of my paintings to soar to the heavens, while the remaining rooted in the earth. My paintings are Gaia. They are the air, the sea and the land around us. they are infused with hashem, they convey my innermost instinct and feeling.

I love working with spices because I believe in their healing power and I am drawn to paint with them. Mixing one over the other- according to my need at that given moment. It is not logical. It is something greater than that.

Finally, I apply a special varnish to seal and protect the painting. The resin or the paint is the shield that we often need to “wear”  in order to protect ourselves, guarding our core. Often I am tempted to leave the painting without the shield...To leave the painting basic raw. But like all experience our “shield” is critical to our survival. Our “protective coat” is key to us thriving the world.

In my paintings, I am left naked and exposed. With colour, smell and texture. I show my world. I show my emotion. I am completed and so I paint.
